Mark,

Not to throw water on anything, but there will be some short-comings to any 
solid or foam wing material:

1.  The tendency for the fly to spin during casting, thus furling and knotting 
your tippet.

2.  On your forward final presentation cast, the air resistance keeps the fly 
from extending much past the end of the fly line.

If you can live with these two drawbacks, and the floatation is a winner for 
you, hey, go for it- they look great.  :o)
