I like using dish soap to clean my materials then rinse well and I add a teaspoon or two of dish soap in my dye bath ,it act like a wetting agent.so the dye absorb better but I feel most of you are doing well with the methods your using . It's not the saltwater it's most likely the dye job.
Remember to use clean materials and to wet them before you put them into the
dye bath. I use a heavy amount of vinegar. It makes the colors more
vibrant and sets it well. I have some friends that even use 1/2 vinegar 1/2
water. Everyone does it a little different but that has worked great for
me.

Subject: [VFB] dyes and saltwater

I have a question for those who know more about dyes than.

Does saltwater make dyes run however much vinegar put in? and how do I
prevent it?

I have materials dyed both by myself and commercially and the dye is OK
in freshwater but it runs in saltwater.
