Tom: Glad ya had fun.. In the Movie and Book "Papillion" and in things I've
read about surfing, they say every 7th wave is a Big One.. Guess you found that
out the hard way huh??? I want to go to Panama City FL ASAP now that I got a
car that I think will make it and is big enough to carry us all comfortably
(without shoving a kid in the trunk or the luggage rack LOL).. But I have
wondered about that.. i too, have me some big ol flies to try, and my 9wt rod
and reel, but I'm wondering how in the world those guy cast into that EVER
PRESENT 20-30 MPH wind coming in.. so, if somebody knows how this is properly
down, helppppp. Try to save me from looking like the proverbial "idiot with a
big ol stick in my hand" ... Chuck

Well, the fishing was a bust, but my trip was fun. I tried doing some surf
fishing, but it seemed futile. Never have I felt more like the proverbial
idiot waving a stick! If I ever do it again, I will go with someone who KNOWS
there are fish in that surf. Without that kind of support I ran out of faith.
I also got wet. I was using my waders, wading in surf up to my knees.... in
theory anyway. In practice, every now and then a wave would come up to my
shoulders. I should have been wearing a swim suit, then I wouldn't have
minded. As it was, I had to wring out my shirt, dry out my cell phone, empty my
waders... you get the drip.

But it truly was a fun visit; it was very nice to see my son and my brother.
Fishing isn't the only thing in life, after all.

  Tom
