I have owned two Griffin vices, and old cheap Thompson (my first
vice) and a Renzetti. All of them but the Thompson use the floating
jaw which is effective, quick and easy to use... but none of them
could hold a large, long shanked hook secure for very long. For
that I should have bought a Dyna King.... and I have spent enough on
cheaper vices that I suspect I COULD have bought one. But that is
an old story. I have to keep reminding myself that it usually is
cheaper in the long run to just buy the best in the first place.
