Only for movtar and quicktime movies, though. AVI has a 2 GB limit itself and the mjpegtools simply go with that standard. Opening AVI movies larger than 2 GB will not work. lavrec opens a new AVI movie after 1,8 GB (or something close to that), so if you use lavrec for recording, there shouldn't be any problem.
