I like .avi (mjpeg) since it gives the best quality to smallest size ratio and it is a more 'standard' format these days. <in my opinoin>
I'll use Quicktime for larger recordings (1-2hr or more), since i'm limited to ~10GB space or less usually. Movtar, I tried to use it but it crashed :-| <lol> <well, i have yet to fiddle with it in 1.6beta. i'll probabely fiddling with this later on, plus trying the patch,etc. As far as using xawtv recording, i think mjpeg tools provides better quality & control over recording & editing.
