"3. Private Non-Commercial Use (Non-revenue generating or
associated) ... may be used (broadcast, synchronized and/or copied)
without fee. "
And in their faq:
"6. What is a personal, non-commercial use? Generally, a personal,
non-commercial use involves synchronizing music in home videos or
content that you produce for friends or family (non-revenue
associated or generating - either directly (payment) or indirectly
(sponsored or banner ads)"
Having read that, I was under the impression that if I made a home
video for family and friends and posted it on my blog I was "fee
free". Having read the previous posts I now wonder how a personal,
non-commercial video can be distributed and still use the music "fee
free"?
I've noticed that on their rate card they list: "Podcasting and Blogs
$25.00 per Freeplay Music title for 12 months." And also: "Internet
and Website Use ... Individual (Personal, Non-Commercial): $50.00 per
Freeplay Music title, unlimited web use, annual."
So it appears to me that the fee to use music in a video for family
and friends (as defined by number six above) costs more than if it's
used in a blog or vlog that is potentially available to a much larger
audience.
All the best,
Tomás
