Just on the point of hand-coding the feed: Since I'm doing this, is it possible for me to have one version of a video at the website, another in the feed?
Without any real evidence, I've sorta formed the view that I could get away with sending out a larger (and better-quality) version in the feed, since people tend to let iTunes or whatever quietly download it. I'd have a lower-bandwidth version at the site, since I think people are less likely to download a file that could be 20-30 MB.
