I think the problem some people have is that video blog is a new form of communication. It involves interactivity, community, linking, new viewing habits. Podcasting or video podcasting is just a new distribution method for the old model of mostly one-way "shows". To make an analogy from the world of text, it is the difference between an online newspaper and a blog.
