Not to be a licensing weenie, but as I understand it, copyright still applies to things, it's just a matter of the usage rights and licensing, correct? I mean, I maintain the copyright on the work I create, even though I make it available under a CC by-nc-sa license. This just gives others the rights to use my work as I've specified. The opposite of copyright would be public domain, where you release a work and do not claim any sort of copyright to it. (If I'm wrong on any of this, please correct me.)
