Answers:

Yes .MOV will play on iPods as long as they are encoded to the 
correct specs (mp4 or h.264 with aac audio). Mp4 work fine but I see 
no benefit to posting them rather than .mov. It caused me more 
problems. There aren't that many more players that can play mp4s and 
I've never been able to get them to play as they download like 
a .MOV does. Yes you file must be h.264 or .mp4 to work on an ipod 
(movs can be encoded with these). Also the M4V extension is just 
another extension for MP4. You can change the extension to .MP4 and 
it will work just fine.
