I think the question has to be amended to best for which level of user. For non-technical vloggers who have no prior video editing experience Windows Movie Maker 2 is a good entry point. It is point and click, drag and drop. But it does limit the export options, if it had a straight .avi that I could have ported to QuickTime that would have been most helpful. Using WMM2 with the free M$ Photo Story (photos to .wmv) gives you extra tools for creativity.
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/digitalphotography/photostory/default.mspx I have ranted about what that dang WMM2 has done to me at various times but that is because once you gain experience, speed and creative desires that sucker will crash on you like a house of cards in a quake. Zwei-Stein was hard for me to get a grip on. I'm not that much of a geek to want to fight my way to edit with it. Just not intuitive. AvidDV - years ago I did take a class on non-computer Avid video editing so this does seem familiar. If you have had prior experiece with tradional video editing you are good to go. If not then newbies would have to spend time learning how Avid wants to be operated. Looking at the feature page, the thing that pulled me back from it was it only being able to export in QT. http://www.avid.com/freedv/features.asp If you could go up $30 what I discovered was that some CompUSA sell PC firewire cards with Ulead VideoStudio 7 SE. You get what you need and able to export in a variety of formats. The interface take a little getting use to but it is not a steep curve. Be sure to check the label on the front of the box. It will specifically state that Ulead VS 7 SE is inside.
