Well, there's that and then there's making your website friendly to the casual browser and drawing people over from YouTube. Viewers won over are viewers who don't mind watching you five minutes at a time on lunch and coffee breaks, and going to your website where the new video is immediately ready to play is even easier than YouTube. I haven't implemented it myself to prove it, but I think that a good website with a policy of putting out a new video on a rigorous schedule (weekly, etc) that has a little branding and promotion can and will easily win direct viewers by putting videos up on YouTube for a while. RSS need not apply, so this still wins over those who don't live and breathe technology. I mean, I'm sure the Rocketboom viewers here almost all use RSS readers to get the show. I don't (my TiVO makes it easy), and I also don't read a single one of my favorite webcomics via RSS readers. I visit Megatokyo, Apple Geeks, and Piled Higher and Deeper the old fashioned way on the days when I know they'll release. Again, I'm not saying YouTube isn't great, but the ultimate goal of reaching viewers is still the same. YouTube is just part of the tactics. -- Rhett. http://www.weatherlight.com/freetime
