I concur and have evangelized rss to email forwarding back when i added the feature to vlogdir a few years ago. I also contrib'ed a section in jay Dedman's "Videoblogging" book on this topic.
Today, I still subscribe to all my feeds via rss to email forwarding.... using rssfwd.com and my gmail account. With Labels and Filters applied, gmail IS my RSS Reader. It never made sense to me to use another web service for feeds. If I need to download a channel's media locally, I will run Democracy or some other apps. But day to day..... it's all about email.
