for me, i always hated the kind of culture where people dont talk to each other. I grew up in the kind of household. I worked at CNN for a couple and left feeling like a stranger. Ive lived in many apartment buildings where I may only see 5 people in the hallways for a whole year. the great thing about urban environments is the anonymity. But it can also seems pointless to me. we can never have power if we arent talking to each other about the things that matter to us. Ive grown a suspicion that we barely even know how to talk about the things we care about. This group is interesting because we go out of our way to meet each other in person. people are flying all around the world to meet up. flying from Europe to NYC to go to rooftop BBQ? amazing. for me, its just nice to be myself without repercussions. I didnt feel comfortable at CNN being the weird guy that I am....but i can do it in the videos I make. If someone goes online to seeks out my videos, then good. welcome. If someone calls my cell number in my email signature, cool. I guess violence is the worse thing that can happen...but I think we all know that people are good. local news is the new cartoon.
