Hi Jay,

I've seen a lot of good suggestions about this and I'll add one. Even if
things have gone awry, a 301 permanent redirect will fix any issues where
your friend has temporarily lost some of their Google juice. I didn't see
anyone mention this (if they did I missed it) but this might be a simple
canonical issue (www vs domain with no www) - that's a real common one. A
canonical statement will fix that. Google has all your answers as to how to
do 301's and things like canonical statements, it just need to be specific
to the kind of host/platform being used.
