Unless it specifically says it is under creative commons, or in some other way
indicates that copyright is being waved, it is copyrighted. You don't need a
symbol for something to become covered by copyright (anymore).

Subject: [Videolib] copyright issue

Hello All,
I have been sent a short video from a faculty member called 'Schoolyard
Habitats' from the National Wildlife Federation on tape that she claims is not
copyrighted, and she wants it put on DVD. Interestingly, it has the 'R' in a
circle registered trademark right after the title, but no regular copyright
claim. Can this be done?

VIDEOLIB is intended to encourage the broad and lively discussion of issues
relating to the selection, evaluation, acquisition, bibliographic control,
preservation, and use of current and evolving video formats in libraries and
related institutions. It is hoped that the list will serve as an effective
working tool for video librarians, as well as a channel of communication
between libraries, educational institutions, and video producers and
distributors.
