Dear videolib folks, this isn't a
strictly video question but I know many of you are involved with
various kinds of media collections. What would you recommend to a
university official looking for best practices and perhaps a
vocabulary for a repository for publicity and news stills as well
as recordings of campus events? The library is not going to be
involved with cataloging this collection and I have a feeling
it'll be mostly student assistants working on it.

VIDEOLIB is intended to encourage the broad and lively discussion of issues relating to the selection, evaluation, acquisition, bibliographic control, preservation, and use of current and evolving video formats in libraries and related institutions. It is hoped that the list will serve as an effective working tool for video librarians, as well as a channel of communication between libraries, educational institutions, and video producers and distributors.
