Anne,

We circulate calculators, camcorders, e-readers, laptops and a projector
primarily from our Media Center. After the Media Center closes, equipment is
checked out from the Circulation Desk.

Our Systems (IT) Dept. is responsible for upkeep and upgrades. They choose
replacements with input from Media Center staff. We're able to meet the demand
for use of our existing equipment but we have a short survey going to find out
what students would like to have available for checkout.

See our survey here,

Subject: [Videolib] Circulating Media Equipment

Hello,

I have a few questions for libraries that circulate mobile devices like iPads,
cameras, camcorders, laptops, etc.:

What service point handles the device circulation? (main circ desk, media lab,
other?) What department/individual manages the equipment?
Is that same department/person responsible for recommending models to purchase?
Do you have trouble keeping up with patron demand for these devices?

Thanks,

Anne

VIDEOLIB is intended to encourage the broad and lively discussion of issues
relating to the selection, evaluation, acquisition, bibliographic control,
preservation, and use of current and evolving video formats in libraries and
related institutions. It is hoped that the list will serve as an effective
working tool for video librarians, as well as a channel of communication
between libraries, educational institutions, and video producers and
distributors.
