Anne, We circulate iPod Touch, FlipUltra cameras, digital voice recorders, and analog tape recorders. This service is expected to be transferred to the Information Commons, which is open 24/7, possibly within the next year. We have an internal tech person who oversees the maintenance of these items. Maintenance is performed twice a year during down time over semester breaks. I work with that person to recommend the purchase of digital equipment. When we first started circulating digital equipment, almost 12 years ago, we could not keep the equipment on the shelf. Today, most students are able to afford their own digital equipment. Within the past five years, the demand for digital voice recorders continued to rise. Therefore, we met the demand by purchasing an additional 20 voice recorders. Our UITS department circulates laptops, headphones, and headphones w/microphone. Students can also purchase ear buds, and thumb drives from our East Tower circulation desk at a low cost.
