We don't have noise cancelling headphones, but we do circulate other headphones. It is a popular service. We have the headphones at media services desk and at the main circulation desk for patron convenience. They're due at end-of-day (i.e. library close). Patrons can return to either desk; we sort them to the correct bin when they're checked in. We usually put barcode on the headband part, but sometimes depends on design.

Hi- Does anyone circulate noise canceling headphones in their library? We are doing what we can go keep noise levels down on two floors, but sometimes this is impossible. I know of the sanitation issues and expense of such phones, but I'm curious to hear your pros and cons. Thanks! Debra Debra H. VIDEOLIB is intended to encourage the broad and lively discussion of issues relating to the selection, evaluation, acquisition, bibliographic control, preservation, and use of current and evolving video formats in libraries and related institutions. It is hoped that the list will serve as an effective working tool for video librarians, as well as a channel of communication between libraries, educational institutions, and video producers and distributors.
