Dear all,

first, thanks for your nice software, keep up the good work! I was
trying to add contour layers to viking, but as a newcomer to the geo
data processing I am stuck for the time being. What I tried so far
was:

Download SRTM data from
   http://dds.cr.usgs.gov/srtm/version2_1/SRTM3/Eurasia/
and convert them with gdal_contour to shapefile(s).

Correct me if I am wrong, I need GeoRef-files to load them into viking,
so: How can I convert the shapefile(s) to a usable GeoRef format?

In a second attempt I tried to use osm-files from
   http://geoweb.hft-stuttgart.de/opendtm.html
Can I convert these files to a usable GeoRef format? Or has a WMS
webserver to be set up to provide these layers created on the fly?
I added some servers to ~/.viking/maps.xml, which works fine, but
do you now about a server providing just the contour lines?

Thanks in advance,

        Andi
