It still works for me!

I just tested it on Debian Unstable:
gpsd: 2.94 (revision 2010-05-09T23:34:56)
viking 0.9.93

Both are using libgps19

The file vikgpslayer.c deals with this, and I think it's OK since we interface
via libgps.
What gpsd reports in, is irrelevant as it's up to libgps to decode it.

See http://gpsd.berlios.de/protocol-transition.html

I think the issue could be either:
. how viking is built (e.g. against an very old libgps source and so doesn't
use the newer way of doing things)
. libgps / gpsd / viking are not consistent on the host machine (check ldd
output for viking and gpsd binaries)

What is your system setup?

NB I personally hardly ever use the real-time feature.
