I've made a series of improvements in a github branch:

Now it means I can use the small icons all the time [I find the large symbols
too large] :)
I based my changes after Sven Eckelmann's Symbol's in Title Case patch.
It would be good to get confirmation the Title Case patch works on the Garmin
60 CSx too (or any other Garmin devices).
(Known to work on the Oregon 450, and Etrex Legend HCx)
