To keep my clipboard and primary selection synchronized, I have
these lines in a file named ~/.kde/Autostart/autocutsel.

    #!/bin/sh
    autocutsel -fork
    autocutsel -selection PRIMARY -fork

and this in my ~/.vimrc:

    set clipboard^=unnamed
