Tried this one.  There are no more black bars -- the unused areas of the
window are grey, like they're supposed to be: http://imgur.com/E0r1rTW

The blank text cells are still not being painted -- here's what I see
after I :help and <PageDown> a few times: http://imgur.com/ssh6CJg

The scrollbar is sometimes missing.  In the screenshots here I have three
panes -- a :help split at the top, and two vsplits at the bottom.  The
bottom scrollbar disappears when I focus the bottom-right pane; it
reappears when I focus the bottom-left pane: http://imgur.com/a/e0MX4

BTW I couldn't reproduce the scrollbar issue with gvim -u NONE -U NONE.
(I could reproduce the non-cleared text problem with -u NONE -U NONE.)
