Marius, Just to make sure.
Do you use the gvim on an X11 with a compositor or on a VM? I'm developing the GUI on Mac whose X11 is made on top of the native window system Quartz. Accordingly, the whole functionality provided by that particular X11 is rather restrictive in comparison with that on Linux. On that Mac, the GUI is working well except that a vertical scrollbar disappears on :split (but appears with Ctrl-L, and I know the reason, though how to fix it in a decent way is tough for me now). So, on Mac, if you don't care about scrolling by mouse, I'd say it's nothing but an ordinary gvim.having a flat design GUI. Looking at the pictures you kindly uploaded, I can see what is cleared by vim still remains on the screen. It's just like as if clear window/block clear operations were intentionally skipped Actually, if I comment out drawing functions for clearing the window or a block, I get a similar phenomenon in you reports. To deepen our understanding on the issue, I'd like to hear your thoughts on possible causes of the failure of the clear operation. Depending on them, I could write another patch to resolve the issue.
