It's not the statusline, since that is updated correctly. I am not even
sure this is actually a bug, it could be a feature. Consider this:
After step 1) do an explicit
:echo "foobar"
It could be any message from a plugin or so. So after switching to the
other tab, is it reasonable to expect it to be cleared? One can probably
argue either way. I don't have a strong feeling about it. So dunno.
