No, there is point building from the repo -- snap 36 is as fast as it gets. > I tried the ATSUI renderer, but it didn't play nicely with my font > (Pragmata TT 9pt, and I set that character width default to 1.1, not > sure if that affects ATSUI though). Is there a free version of that font? I'd like to try it myself to see the problem. > I tried ATSUI again just now (ugliness disregarded) and it feels a bit > faster, but still not 1:1 to editing a blank file. I'm afraid that editing a blank file is not comparable to editing a file with markup in Vim and I don't think there is much I can do about that. :-( > I noticed that when editing Main.php and bigger chunks/more expensive- > to-highlight parts of the code came up, it slowed down slightly more. Yeah, that is when the syntax highlighter kicks in -- I've noticed such behaviour too in certain situations. I do not know if the new regexp code will take care of such problems as I haven't had time to try it out yet myself. I guess there is hope, but I think it will be a while before we see an official patch with the new regexp engine.
