No, there is point building from the repo -- snap 36 is as fast as it gets.

Is there a free version of that font?  I'd like to try it myself to

I'm afraid that editing a blank file is not comparable to editing a
file with markup in Vim and I don't think there is much I can do about
that. :-(

Yeah, that is when the syntax highlighter kicks in -- I've noticed
such behaviour too in certain situations.  I do not know if the new
regexp code will take care of such problems as I haven't had time to
try it out yet myself.  I guess there is hope, but I think it will be
a while before we see an official patch with the new regexp engine.
