Late night ramblings now... I looked up the documentation for the Asante and it appears to want a whole Localtalk chain in between the Asante and the Mac.
So the way I have it hooked up now is just a D9 to D9 cable (I have two of them with the double arrows on the ends) directly connected from the Asante to the Mac Plus/SE. Their instructions want a Localtalk box with D9 connected to the Mac Plus/SE, then a Localtalk cable to another LocalTalk box with it's own D9 plugged into the Asante (and terminated on both localtalk boxes). Problem is I don't have two of these Localtalk boxes, just one... I've got another on order from Ebay, but I don't have a terminator. Do I need a terminator for these Localtalk boxes that use the D3 connector (instead of the phone line)? I don't remember having to do all this terminating and localtalk cabling 10+ years ago when I used to set up networks on the macs...
