OK Apple must have made those cords to work on the compact macs.
That's why standard cords don't work.
But, a 30 amp cord will work.

For what it's worth... I'm not from that era, but at least two of the
early compact Macs I've aquired have had 90-degree power cords that were
angled so it went down, away from the power switch, just like in that
picture.
