A very welcome addition to our armamentarium.

These connectors and hoods were NOT available when Apple commissioned  
the DB-19 from AMP Inc in 1984 ... fully twenty-five years ago!

In fact, in 1984, only two connectors were made: right-angle PCB  
mount, female, with inserted pins and straight cable mount, male,  
without pins (the hood, usually called a shell by AMP Inc, was molded).

The most significant factors with the DB-19 were: 1) it would fit on  
the board, which was already too full and 2) it utilized the existing  
AMP Inc manufacturing and assembly tooling.
