Thanks for finding that for me, but that application SORELY screwed up
my Mac.
The program said it would modify the System Suitcase to make the
correct model appear in the About box. I created a copy of the
Suitcase and had the app run it's operations on that. Then I moved out
the original Suitcase, pulled in the new one, renamed it, and
rebooted.
The Mac started to do the strangest things ever. Once it loaded enough
to reach the Mac OS screen it skipped loading extensions (i didn't
even touch the SHIFT key) and then it proceeded to draw an empty
dialog box on the screen and then re-drew it multiple times to
infinity, until the system crashed (screen graphics became garbled).
Naturally I pulled out the Network Access Floppy i made a while ago so
I could reinstate the old Suitcase, but the Mac refused to read from
the floppy. Either it would reboot just after the Happy Mac or show a
floppy icon with a blinking X. It even would do this would the HD
removed. As a last resort, I pulled out the PRAM battery and let it
sit for 2 hours. Meanwhile I tested my Net Acces disk in a Mac
Emulation on my XP machine, where it worked fine. I reinserted it into
my Mac, where it now worked perfectly. Rebooted with the HD back in,
where it still booted fine from the floppy and then mounted the HD, no
trouble. I reinstated the old Suitcase, rebooted HD only, and then Mac
OS was back in working order.
It was a good waste of time.
