the adapters aren't easy at all when you're using 10.5+ and appletalk.
an alternative is older mac-hardware with enabled printer-sharing.
e.g. a mac up to 10.4 with ethernet and asanté-adapter or an oldschool
mac with serial and ethernet.
we're using a cube with asanté, 10.4 server and printer sharing.
but it's a huge amount of hardware and energy, to print a single page ;-)
