Hi, 1.44 MB Floppy runs at different speeds than 800k Floppies and in order to do this, your machine needs to have the appropriate ROM. As far as I know, you can only read 1.44 MB Floppies through an external drive, with the appropriate extensions.
Lots of people these days have the opposite problem, they may read 1.44 MB floppies but not 800k.
