I can say the dishwasher method will temporarily make the unit usable but the 
capacitors are done.  It's just a matter of when.  If you take it apart clean 
in washer then have them replaced then it will last a long time.

May I suggest the dishwasher approach to fixing the Classic (there are nay 
sayers in the group that will advise against but it worked for me and my

As for the stuck floppy, it can be removed with the old straightened paperclip 
trick. There should be a little hole just to the right of the floppy drive 
opening. Straighten a paperclip and then insert. Push firmly. You may have to 
try a few times to hit the "eject button" on the inside, but it should pop out 
with the right pressure and patience.
