For Christmas, I received a Macintosh Quadra 700. No hard drive. The base system with no upgrades.
So I bought an official Apple 1000mb SCSI hard drive. I installed it, plugged it in through SCSI and loaded up System 7.5's Disk Tools. It will not see the SCSI drive no matter what I do. Apple HD SC Setup cannot find the drive. I can hear the hard drive initializing for the first 5 seconds the computer turns on, but then it goes dead silent. Do I need to have some sort of SCSI terminator on the end of the Internal SCSI cable? But that wouldn't make sense since I've never seen one. The seller of the hard drive said it was fully functional, pulled from a PowerMac, and wiped. It was packaged well so I don't think there's a problem there. Do I have the jumpers mixed up? I just want to get System 7 running on this machine. Any help will be appreciated. -- -- ----- You received this message because you are a member of the Vintage Macs group.
