Most likely the drive is simply not supported by the Disk Tools' HDSC Setup
you're using (which version; for which OS?) because it's a non "Apple ROM"
issue. In this case simply use a 3rd party formatting utility - you should
be fine then.
One of the group's gurus, Pickle, steered me towards MicroNet Utility,
'cause it works and it's free (thanks, p!). I'll attach a copy offlist to
you.
