Yeah, some Linux drive setups can format hard drives
for all sorts of partition types, even HFS. Of course
that won't put a driver on the disk but usually once
you have the HFS file structure on it the Apple
Drive Setup or HD-SC util will go ahead and init the
drive and install the Apple disk driver. The BeOS
drive setup can also format a hard drive as HFS or
lots of other types.
