I don't know if this is because of my particular monitor, but I use a
DIP box for both my top IIci with an 8*24*GC and the bottom NetBSD
machine with S-o-G internal video. The box is a 10-switch variety with 
DIPs 1, 4, 5 and 8 turned on, and the others off. The monitor is an NEC
MultiSync XV15+. It works for 640x480 up to 24-bit colour, and the same
settings amazingly work for both the card and the internal video.
