Oh, foo. Isn't the UK phone system somewhat not sympatico with modems made for the USA? I've seen some PC-Card modems for laptops that will work pretty much anywhere. (Even a USR 28.8 with X-Jack from Scotland that a snotty USR tech support b!tch in Utah insisted did not exist because "only Megahertz brand modems have the X-Jack".)
