After reading Pickle's post, I did exactly that.  I took out the adapter,
stuck it in an external case and hacked around with the jumpers till I
found a setting that would let me book with it as an external, without
causing confusion.  And I contacted the guy I got them from, who'd found
out the admin password.  One way or another, I'll get this thing working
again.  (And I have some IIsis and a few other machines I could use to hack
around with it.)
