Oh come on guys - I'm using BBEdit here - it takes more effort to get 
stuff wrong than to get it right!!

PNG has always seemed too obscure. I only really cropped up as a format 
in the mid-to-late 1990s and, as pickle says, it isn't supported on 
earlier platforms. GIF images look sickeningly bad in most cases and 
don't anti-alias at all well. I just sick to jpegs and work the page 
around them.
