Driver sites have been around for quite a while on the PC side. One of the first ones, www.windrivers.com went to a paid subscription plan in 2001. So far, all the others are free. Anyone who pays for access to windrivers.com is a big, fat, _sucker_. :) What windrivers does have is some "rescued" websites from companies that went out of business but much of that info and files is available elsewhere, free, and what they have an exclusive on is mostly really obsolete and incompatable with later versions of Windows or other PC systems.
A comprehensive Mac driver site should be a bit "easier" due to how much less variety there has been in Mac hardware over the years. Instead of thousands of companies that produce or have produced Mac hardware and peripherals, I bet you'd be hard pressed to come up with 1,000 unique vendors of Mac compatable hardware. (Hardware that works only with a Mac.) How's the "NuBus Mafia" site coming? For those going "Huh?" the NuBus Mafia project aims to collect images and information on every NuBus device ever made. The MCA Mafia has been around a while, collecting images, information, drivers and ADF disk images on every MCA bus device ever made.
