I've never seen a floppy drive with a light. Has anybody else seen one besides Jeff?
Not on my Macs, but one of my Amiga external floppies used an LED to check if the floppy tab was closed or shut. All the others I've seen have a small plastic pin about 4mm long that can sometimes jam stuck down (so the hole is always assumed closed) or sometimes break off/bend and never go down (always presumed open).
