Don't up-grade that LC! Downgrade it! Install OS 6.0.8L and watch it boot fast, and run fast.

I highly recommend the "VersaTerm" s/w package. It still works with six and gives FTP, Email, and Terminal apps. I've FTP'd from PC's, Mac's and Unix servers all around the world.

Get the right Asante PDS LC card and it fits perfectly. Drivers work with six also.

Forget color. Get a nice, crisp, 12" monochrome monitor - must easier on the eyes.

I have come to realize that there is such a huge gap between old and modern h/w that you might as well admit that the old Macs are just there 'cos we love them. Stop trying to make them compete with mega mega hertz machines. Relax and enjoy. The G5 is here for the serious stuff.

I have just found two old LCs.

In our environment we have already moved to OS X,
airport etc..., however I believe these vintage
Macs are worth a few bucks for upgrading them.

Where should I look for, for a Quadra 605 upgrade to a PPC?

I'm no expert on this, I think the only 68k Mac that can be brought forward
to a PPC is the Quadra 800, and that takes saving the upper case, throwing
out the rest and putting the upper case on a PM 8500.

The limitation that I am finding is that the LC, as is, can only be
upgraded to 10 Mb and with the 40 Mb HD it comes with, I have to stay below
7.5.1. I will probably upgrade the HD when I can get it to connect by
Ethernet.
