You need to try enabling one extension or control panel at a time until you find out which one (or which combination) is (or are) the culprit(s). You know it boots with extensions disabled. Yank them all out into the Control Panels (disabled) and Extensions (disabled) folders and then slowly add them in and reboot.

You want file sharing so concentrate on the AppleTalk and Ethernet and File Sharing and Users & Groups and related Ext/CPs first.

re: your floppy drive, you will have a hard time finding "double-density" diskettes these days. You can use 1.44 floppies as if they were 800K if you tape over the hole (the one that does NOT have the sliding piece of plastic) with scotch tape or equivalent. Please note that this won't make a high-density formatted disk with stuff on it accessible to your SE - it won't - all it will do is make it possible for you to format the diskette as an 800K diskette and use it as such.

You can use Disk Copy and diskimages but you'll need to restrict yourself to 800K diskimages.

Ok, Disk Copy works.

Here's the conundrum... I just picked up a Mac SE with an 800k floppy and a 20mb HD. I swapped out the HD for an 80mb HD I have with system 7.5.5 on it. The SE gets an illegal instruction when I boot it with extensions on, however if I boot with extensions off it boots fine, but it won't allow me to see shared files or drives, nor will it allow me to share a drive. I tried sticking a 1.44mb floppy in but that didn't work unless I put an 800k disk in. Any thoughts about how to get this thing to function so I can see it with my other macs? I think my ultimate goal is to make this a web server.

Thanks

Thomas
