I would expect MEK to remove plasticoat though it might only make it run
before the MEK evaporated.

MEK is the prime ingredient in paints and glues that kids used to sniff
for the hallucinogenic effects. It will get you if not well ventilated.
Best to avoid the stuff.

Use oil on the glue, then wash it off with dish washing detergent in a
couple days.
