My '68 Caravel has only a tiny vent, 14x14 outside dimensions, but with the two cranks and a fan. Can this vent be disassembled (e.g. cap removed) easily. I need to clean the old glue off and install a new cap gasket, then a new screen and it would be easier to do the gasket with the cap on the ground than working past the fan dropping crumbs in my face. I have the screen frame and cranks off. Can I just lift the shafts a bit and spring them out of their bearings or what is the procedure? Gerald J.
