Hi all, Joe Clark in Tallahassee here, longtime lurker seeking group
wisdom:

I am stumped on rear window installation on my 65 Beetle
convertible. This is my second convertible top job, but my first
with a glass rear window (the other was an early Ghia). I have
installed many a hardtop sedan and bus window with the string method,
but the problem with the Convertible is the window frame not as
immovable as on a metal car body, and I am having trouble persuading
the glass & seal far enough in so that the string reliably pulls the
lip all the way around.

So what do you do when the window's being stubborn? I had a stubborn
baywindow bus windshield that just would not seat completely, but
then I just roped into place and drove it for a few days like that
and the lip kinda seated itself. I don't think that hack is workable
on a vert. Meanwhile the weather here is absolutely gorgeous but
I've got the car all festooned with props & tools trying to figure
this puzzle out.

Any advice or recommendations would be very much appreciated.

I have pics of the car, including my top frame resto and top kit
installation, at http://www.flickr.com/photos/jsclark/sets/
